Australia's Fire-Ravaged Forests Are Recovering. Ecologists Hope It Lasts

torched tree. It's uppermost branches reach into a cloudless sky, brittle and bare. Against its charred trunk rests half-burned rubble, remains from the gift shop it used to shade."
