Let our scars fall in love.

Sometimes it is necessary
To reteach a thing its loveliness

The first step ... shall be to lose the way.

To me, poetry is somebody standing up, so to speak, and saying, with as little concealment as possible, what it is for him or her to be on earth at this moment.

Prose is walking; poetry is flying.

Never mind. The self is the least of it. Let our scars fall in love.

The wages of dying are love.

The mind is just like a muscle - the more you exercise it, the stronger it gets and the more it can expand.

There is immense power when a group of people with similar interests gets together to work toward the same goals

There is no denying that there is evil in this world but the light will always conquer the darkness.

Many times, the thought of fear itself is greater than what it is we fear.

The type of person you are is usually reflected in your business. To improve your business, first improve yourself.

There are certain life lessons that you can only learn in the struggle.

We do not get to choose how we start out in life. We do not get to choose the day we are born or the family we are born into, what we are named at birth, what country we are born in, and we do not get to choose our ancestry. All these things are predetermined by a higher power. By the time you are old enough to start making decisions for yourself, a lot of things in your life are already in place. It’s important, therefore, that you focus on the future, the only thing that you can change.

You were talking to that niche in the wall again, Gwyneth. I saw you.
Yes, but it's my favorite bit of wall, Gordon. I'd hurt its feelings if I didn't stop and talk to it.

If we were in a film, the villain would turn out to be the least-expected person. But as we aren’t in a film, I’d go for the character who tried to strangle you.

Love goes through all times.

Hearts can't be broken because they're made of marzipan.

True love knows no constraints, no locks or bars.
Past every obstacle it makes its way.
It spreads it wings to soar toward the stars,
No earthly power will make it stop or stay.

Friends of yours, eh? I think one of them's about to faint. Oh, my god. That's Chloe Dale," I said without turning arouind. "She suffers from high oestrogen levels. I can introduce you if you like."
Gideon's smile grew wilder. "Maybe I'll take you up on that some other time. Now, come on. We still have a lot to do today." He took my arm (a loud squel could be heard from the steps and guided me towards the limousine.

Rick Yancey

But if I'm it, the last of my kind, the last page of human history, like hell I'm going to let the story end this way. I may be the last one, but I am the one still standing. I am the one turning to face the faceless hunter in the woods on an abandoned highway. I am the one not running but facing. Because if I am the last one, then I am humanity. And if this is humanity's last war, then I am the battlefield.

Some things you can never leave behind. They don't belong to the past. They belong to you.

We’re here, and then we’re gone, and it’s not about the time we’re here, but what we do with the time.

How do you rid the Earth of humans? Rid the humans of their humanity.

Cruelty isn't a personality trait. Cruelty is a habit.

I had it all wrong," he says. "Before I found you, I thought the only way to hold on was to find something to live for. It isn't. To hold on, you have to find something you're willing to die for.

Sarcasm doesn't appear to work on him. If that's true, I'm in trouble: It's my normal mode of communication.

You know how sometimes you tell yourself that you have a choice, but really you don't have a choice? Just because there are alternatives doesn't mean they apply to you.

Memories: some can be sucker punching, others carry you forward; some stay with you forever, others you forget on your own. You can't really know which ones you'll survive if you don't stay on the battlefield, bad times shooting at you like bullets. But if you're lucky, you'll have plenty of good times to shield you.

The boy with no direction taught me something unforgettable: happiness comes again if you let it.

I've become this happiness scavenger who picks away at the ugliness of the world, because if there's happiness tucked away in my tragedies, I'll find it no matter what. If the blind can find joy in music, and the deaf can discover it with colors, I will do my best to always find the sun in the darkness because my life isn't one sad ending—it's a series of endless happy beginnings.

You may be born into a family, but you walk into friendships. Some you’ll discover you should put behind you. Others are worth every risk.

I'll never understand how time can make a moment feel as close as yesterday and as far as years.

Maybe it's better to have gotten it right and been happy for one day instead of living a lifetime of wrongs.

Maybe reading was just a way to make her feel less alone, to keep her company. When you read something you are stopped, the moment is stayed, you can sometimes be there more fully than you can in your real life.

This is what I know about love, That it is tested every day, and what is not renewed is lost. One chooses either to care more or to care less. Once the choice is to care less, then there is no stopping the momentum of goodbye. Each loved thing slips away. There is no stopping it.

The heart is a river. The act of writing is the moving water that holds the banks apart, keeps the muscle of words flexing so that the reader can be carried along by this movement. To be given space and the chance to leave one's earthly world. Is there any greater freedom than this?

What I've always found interesting in gardens is looking at what people choose to plant there. What they put in. What they leave out. One small choice and then another, and soon there is a mood, an atmosphere, a series of limitations, a world.

Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in the joints and very shabby. But these things don't matter at all, because once you are Real you can't be ugly, except to people who don't understand.

You become. It takes a long time. That’s why it doesn’t happen often to people who break easily, or have sharp edges, or who have to be carefully kept. Generally, by the time you are Real, most of your hair has been loved off, and your eyes drop out and you get loose in your joints and very shabby.
But these things don’t matter at all, because once you are Real you can’t be ugly, except to people who don’t understand.

He didn't mind how he looked to other people, because the nursery magic had made him Real, and when you are Real shabbiness doesn't matter.

Once you are real you can't become unreal again. It lasts for always.

Do you really want to be happy? You can begin by being appreciative of who you are and what you've got.

Lots of people talk to animals...Not very many listen though...that's the problem.

The surest way to become Tense, Awkward, and Confused is to develop a mind that tries too hard - one that thinks too much.”

The main problem with this great obsession for saving time is very simple: you can't save time. You can only spend it. But you can spend it wisely or foolishly.

Things just happen in the right way, at the right time. At least when you let them, when you work with circumstances instead of saying, 'This isn't supposed to be happening this way,' and trying harder to make it happen some other way.

You'd be surprised how many people violate this simple principle every day of their lives and try to fit square pegs into round holes, ignoring the clear reality that Things Are As They Are.”

There are things about ourselves that we need to get rid of; there are things we need to change. But at the same time, we do not need to be too desperate, too ruthless, too combative. Along the way to usefulness and happiness, many of those things will change themselves, and the others can be worked on as we go. The first thing we need to do is recognize and trust our own Inner Nature, and not lose sight of it.

I don't get nearly enough credit in life for the things I manage not to say.

I am almost a hundred years old; waiting for the end, and thinking about the beginning.
There are things I need to tell you, but would you listen if I told you how quickly time passes?
I know you are unable to imagine this.

Things Happen and once they start happening you pretty much just to hold on for dear life and see where they drop you when they stop.

The things that break your heart when you think there`s nothing left to break.

Every war has turning points and every person too.

The facts of his existence are plain. I know that he will never silence those unspeakable voices. He heard how people killed, and how they died and their voices infected him, coursed through his body, poisoned him. He didn't know how to turn off the noise, or turn the hate back out onto the world like the rest of us. He turned it on himself. You could see that from the scars on him.

Diogenes Laërtius

Time is the most valuable thing that a man can spend.

One original thought is worth a thousand mindless quotings.

We have two ears and only one tongue in order that we may hear more and speak less.

We are more curious about the meaning of dreams than about things we see when awake.

Step out of my sunlight.

One day a man invited him into a richly furnished house, saying 'be careful not to spit on the floor.' Diogenes, who needed to spit, spat in his face, exclaiming that it was the only dirty place he could find where spitting was permitted.

As to the gods, I have no means of knowing either that they exist or do not exist. For many are the obstacles that impede knowledge, both the obscurity of the question and the shortness of human life.

Why not whip the teacher when the student misbehaves?
